IB Workshops

May 29-31, Victoria

This May, join us in Victoria, BC as we offer 5 official IB workshops designed to deepen understanding, strengthen practice, and support high-quality teaching and learning within the IB framework. This boutique experience offers focused time to engage with IB philosophy, pedagogy, and programme expectations, while collaborating with fellow educators in a stunning setting.

Sept 25-27, Vancouver

We’ll be back at the newly renovated Pinnacle Hotel Harbourfront in late September with 13 IB Workshops across all programmes. BCAIBWS will take care of all the event details, including thoughtful organization, clear communication, great food and a welcoming learning environment, so educators can focus on what matters most: learning, connecting with colleagues, and bringing new ideas back to their classrooms with confidence.

Which category is right for me?

Category 1 focuses on IB philosophy and implementation

  • You are new to the IB
  • You are new to the faculty of a longstanding IB World School and have not taught in an IB programme previously.
  • You are aware of the IB philosophy and programme structure but are not experienced in teaching or administrating the IB.

  • You have inherited a course and would like to review the subject content before teaching it to suit your own style and expertise.t

category 2

Category 2 covers delivery of the four IB programmes

  • Develop your expertise in delivering an IB programme
  • Make connections between programme frameworks and classroom practice,
  • Enhance your understanding of assessment in IB programmes,
  • Discuss and analyze standards and practices.

category 3

Category 3 builds on and enhances professional development portfolios

  • Delve deeper into topic areas and strengthen your understanding of a particular subject.

Why choose BCAIBWS?

We believe the best professional learning happens when educators feel supported, respected, and well cared for. That’s why we prioritize thoughtful organization, clear communication, great food and a welcoming learning environment in every IB workshop we host. Our goal is to take care of the details so educators can focus on what matters most: learning, connecting with colleagues, and bringing new ideas back to their classrooms with confidence.

What our participants are saying

Managing Assessment: Sciences (MYP)

I found the workshop to be informative and valuable in deepening my understanding of MYP IB Science assessments. There was a balance of pedagogy, peer assessment, reflection
and discussion.

Theory of Knowledge (DP)

This was excellent. The workshop leader had great content prepared, but made
sure it suited the needs of the workshop participants, and adapted activities and discussions as needed.

Individuals & Societies (MYP)

It was a great workshop. The facilitator provided us with
excellent opportunities to learn more about the material and
share with our colleagues.

Developing Your PYP Framework: Early Years

I appreciated the depth of discussion around play-based learning and the emphasis on learner agency in the early
years.
