About Us

Mission

The BC Association of IB World Schools (BCAIBWS) drives the growth and impact of IB education across British Columbia. We equip educators and schools through targeted professional development, strategic advocacy, programme promotion, and dynamic networking and mentorship, helping IB communities thrive and create lasting change through education.

Schools

Our member schools are part of a diverse and supportive network connected by a shared commitment to the International Baccalaureate. We represent 61 candidate and authorized IB schools across British Columbia, including public, independent, and international schools, offering programmes from the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP) through to the Diploma Programme (DP) and Career-related Programme (CP). Together, our schools work closely to support students, educators, and school communities at every stage of the IB journey.

Executive Team

Our Executive board is a group of dedicated volunteer IB educators and school leaders from across British Columbia, elected annually by the membership at our Annual General Meeting. Together with our Executive Director, the team draws on their experience in IB programmes and school communities, working together to support members, guide the association’s work, and advocate for IB education at the provincial and post-secondary levels.

Constitution

Our Constitution sets out the purpose, structure, and rules of our association, guiding how we operate and make decisions. It defines the roles and responsibilities of our Executive team, membership, and committees, and ensures that our work is transparent, fair, and accountable. The Constitution provides a framework for collaboration, governance, and advocacy, helping us support IB schools, educators, and students across British Columbia effectively.
